If you would like to hear the Pellegrina played, click on the link to the right. The violist is Nancy Bean, director of 1807 & Friends, a chamber music group in Philadelphia. Usually their concerts are live, but during the worst of the pandemic, they live-streamed some performances on FaceBook. Since Nancy is doing both playing and technical recording work, it takes a while before she starts playing, so be patient. It's well worth it!

David Lloyd Rivinus - Violin Maker

These days, I am living on the Oregon coast

with my wife, Charlene.

For those of you who may not be familiar with my work, the 12-minute YouTube clip to the right is an excellent and succinct description of my violas and what they do for the player. Despite the filmer misspelling my name, I highly recommend it. At the time I didn't realize he was filming the clip for publication, so the narrative is totally spontaneous. Enjoy!

Dear Violinists & Violists,

After more than 40 years as a violin maker, I went into semi-retirement in 2018. I still service and repair the instruments I have made, but I am no longer making new ones. Still, the epidemic of player injuries continues unabated. For this reason, I am happy to continue acting as a broker for those of you who either wish to purchase or offer one of my ergonomic instruments for sale. Every few months I update the list of instruments being offered, and you can contact me at any time at pellegrina8@gmail.com

ERGONOMIC MAXIMILIAN VIOLIN

       FOR SALE: $11,500

These ergonomic violins, so helpful for players with arthritic conditions or shoulder problems, look similar enough to a traditional violin that they "pass" in a symphony setting. They are extremely comfortable to play, especially in the upper positions.
